For the milk drinkers of the world, we have all seen the dried milk crust that builds around the rim of the milk gallon. I know some of us try to ignore it and pretend it does not exist but it does exist and it can be deadly if ingested!
When milk dries up, a chemical reaction occurs where the protein molecules (Amino Acids) change into smaller amino chains known as microamines such as Alanine and Proline. When these small chains combine and are ingested they can mutate your existing Amino Acids and catalyze necessary chemicals.
Most people either allow the crust to land in the milk or try very hard to keep it stuck on the rim.
As usual, we have a solution for this:
1. Clean the rim with a sock bathed in warm distilled water. The distilled warm water prevents the Amino Acid breakdown and can prevent further growth.
2. Replace top with a new store bought Sunny Delight top. Sunny Delight tops are stronger and more resistant to milk crust.
3. Remove the light bulb in the refrigerator. Extra bursts of light that occur with every open/close cycle trigger growth of milk crust.
